During the book event in Ramat Gan, left-wing activists congregated outside the venue to protest Shrier’s presence. Ha’aretz, an Israeli media outlet with a liberal reputation, published an article supporting the activists’ attempt to silence Shrier’s speech and asserted that the event was unsuccessful.

Disruption and Threats at the Event

While Shrier was discussing her book, a protester hurried onto the stage, interrupting the event and posing a threat to Shrier’s physical safety. Security personnel promptly removed the protester, and Shrier remained unharmed.

Journalist Linda Dayan, affiliated with Ha’aretz, penned an article endorsing the cancellation of Shrier’s event and downplayed its attendance. Dayan also made the false claim that physicians had invalidated Shrier’s statements on transgenderism, lending credibility to activists’ arguments that Shrier’s work is perilous.

Shrier’s Response and Criticism of Media Coverage

In response to the incident, Abigail Shrier took to Twitter to clarify what occurred and condemn journalists like Dayan for their conduct. Shrier accused them of employing a “totalitarian” approach to create the false perception that her ideas were rejected, suggesting biased media coverage.
