Pence Addresses Trump’s Indictment and the 2020 Election: A Call for Justice and Fairness

Former Vice President Mike Pence has recently spoken out after the recent indictment of former President Donald Trump. The indictment was related to Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia. Pence made it clear that he firmly believes that the election was not stolen and reiterated that he had no authority to overturn the results on January 6th.

Speaking at the National Conference of State Legislatures in Indianapolis, Pence emphasized that the law applies to everyone, including the former president. He highlighted the importance of presuming innocence until proven guilty. Pence acknowledged that Georgia was a state that President Biden narrowly won, leading to Trump’s defeat.

Pence also referenced the statements made by Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp, who rejected Trump’s claims of election fraud. Kemp emphasized that those who allege fraud need to provide evidence in a court of law, but so far, no substantial evidence has been presented.

As the person overseeing the certification of the Electoral College vote on January 6th, Pence stressed that he fulfilled his duty that day to ensure a peaceful transfer of power, in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the United States.

Looking forward to the GOP presidential primary debate scheduled for August 23rd and hosted by Fox News, Pence expressed optimism that Trump would participate. However, Trump’s attendance remains uncertain as he has not signed the Republican National Committee’s loyalty pledge, a requirement for candidates to appear on the debate stage.
