Remembering the Remarkable Talent and Loving Spirit of Soap Opera Star Andrea Evans

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Andrea Evans, beloved soap opera star known for her roles on “One Life to Live,” “Passions,” and “The Bold and The Beautiful.” At the age of 66, Andrea lost her battle with breast cancer at her home in Pasadena, California. Her former manager, Don Carroll, confirmed the news and spoke of Andrea’s loving nature and her unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

Nick Leicht, Andrea’s current manager, expressed his condolences and praised her as a remarkable talent and a true joy to work with. Andrea rose to fame for her portrayal of Tina Lord on the ABC daytime drama “One Life to Live” from 1979 to 1981. She returned to the role in 1985 and, three years later, received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for her captivating performance as the troubled character.

In the 1990s, Andrea faced personal struggles when she was confronted by a stalker while working on “One Life to Live.” The incident, which occurred in a Manhattan studio, resulted in death threats, some written in blood, according to reports from the Hollywood Reporter. This traumatic experience deeply affected Andrea and led her to retreat from the public eye, seeking solace and privacy.

Following her departure from “One Life to Live,” Andrea chose to live a quiet life away from the spotlight. In a 2008 interview with People magazine, she revealed that her decision to maintain a low profile was heavily influenced by her encounter with the stalker, which forever altered her life and left a lasting impact.

Despite limiting her public appearances, Andrea made a guest appearance as Tina on “One Life to Live” in 2008, further solidifying her place in soap opera history. Aside from her iconic role on the show, she also portrayed Rebecca Hotchkiss on “Passions” and Patty Williams on “The Young and the Restless.” Her final acting credit was on the Prime series “The Bay” from 2017 to 2020.

Andrea Evans leaves behind her loving husband, Stephen Rodriguez, whom she married in 1998, and their daughter Kylie. Before her marriage to Rodriguez, she was married to her “One Life to Live” co-star Wayne Massey from 1981 to 1983. The entertainment industry mourns the loss of this talented actress who made an indelible mark on the soap opera genre. Andrea will always be remembered for her unforgettable performances and her unwavering love for her family. May she rest in peace.
